We are all aware of the role our lungs play. We take our first breath at birth and our last when we pass away.
In Shiatsu, it is thought that our breathing is connected to our thought processes. Poor breathing function hinders the brain's blood circulation.
Therefore, if we are accustomed to shallow breathing habits, it may impact our vitality and even lead to depression.
Our muscles can also exert pressure on our ribcage, preventing our lungs from functioning at their peak, and at times, we may feel like we aren't getting enough air into our bodies.
In Shiatsu, I consistently concentrate on your breathing to help the muscles relax and allow your body to direct air where it's needed.
When our lungs begin to function freely and our thoughts find balance, it results in greater happiness.
Shiatsu incorporates the 5 Elements. The lungs are associated with metal, and the healing sound for this element is ssss...
So, everyone, take a deep breath and make the sound sssss.......
The large intestine is another organ associated with metal, which I will explain in my next blog.
